Unfortunately I had to make some hard financial decisions this year, and my URL payments were low on my list.  A lot has happened -I am still writing my cookbook, trying to keep up my video game blog, and work on my art, but I made a major career change!  I left the film industry, studied my butt off, passed the state test and received my life/health insurance license!  Even though I'm stressed during this major transition, I feel like I'm finally free!  I'm in control of my own business, I'm surround by managers and coworkers who are positive and encouraging, and I get paid to HELP people!  How great is that?!  The fact that I'm in a much more positive work environment is going to mean big things for my art -the biggest being that I actually want to create beautiful paintings in my spare time, instead of before, when all I wanted to do on the weekends was lay on the couch and veg out.

Once I build up my body of work again, I'll setup a new site.  Hey, maybe my business will really take off and I can afford a web designer!  :)

Hi guys!  I'm a female gamer as most of you know, so I started a website to post my blog entries, game reviews, and game news updates!  I'm looking for guest authors, so if you are a female gamer and would like to write a review or article, please let me know!  I'm also looking to interview people in the video game industry (not gender specific), so if you wouldn't mind setting up a skype or email interview with me, I'd really appreciate it!  Also check out my weekly "Spotlight on Indie Games" where I highlight popular pitch videos on Kickstarter.

Wow.....so much can happen in a year.  Living with Michael was great this year, however we decided to split up, stay friends, move into our own places and focus completely on our careers/futures.  Just not the right time to settle down.  It sucks, but I have big plans for my art and for my career in the film industry (and I'm also excited to see what Michael is going to accomplish!).  I still want to be an editor and I have been working as a logger for a great television production studio in Burbank.  Recently I have been given some more responsibility and hopefully I can move into an assistant editor position in the near future!  I have big plans for a website to showcase my cooking instructional videos for my family favorite recipes (that I will write, star in, and edit), and I'm also planning on releasing a small cookbook that I will design and illustrate to accompany my little enterprise.  It's a huge project but I'm confident that it will prove to be beneficial to my career as well as exercise my creative muscles.  I have a handful of friends that will help crew, so as soon as I move into my new place I will work out a shooting schedule (4 episodes before the site goes up), finish the designs and layouts, and choose the release dates for the website and cookbook.  I also have several blank canvases floating around that I would like to get started on -have some great ideas for abstract paintings with plaster gauze sculptures/textures.  I also want to take some more live drawing classes and get back into drawing full color portraits again!  So this year was interesting, but next year will blow this year out of the water.  So stay tuned.  ;)

the big move

1 min read
Well I did it.  I finally moved out of state, away from the family.  No more freezing snowy winters in Co!  I just found a place in Pasadena, so I'll be moving in next month.  I'm really excited for this move, and it would be a whole lot better if I could find an entry level job in the Media & Entertainment Industry -like a production assistant, logger, transcriber, paid intern, etc.  I'm going to grab another retail job, for some extra cash, until my big break hits.  I'm also going to start applying to film schools for fall 2009, so wish me luck!  -Jen
